KCR Yields To MIM, Draws Ire From BJP

It looks like Telangana Rashtra Samithi has dropped the plan to pamper the Bharatiya Janata Party after realising that the latter is trying to grow independently in the state. Instead, it would continue to sail with the MIM to retain the confidence of minorities.
It was evident from the way chief minister K Chandrasekhar Rao instantly accepted the requisition made by MIM president Asaduddin Owaisi who asked the government to drop the plan to rename the proposed district of Vikarabad as Anantagiri district.
In a letter to KCR, Owaisi said rechristening Vikarabad as Anantagiri or any other name would hurt the sentiment of Muslims.
The name Vikarabad was derived from Viqar-Ul-Umra, the Paigah Noble who served as the Prime Minister of Hyderabad during the Nizam regime.
On the other hand, Anantagiri is named after Lord Ananta Padmanabha Swamy, the presiding deity in Vikarabad, where there is an old temple of the god.
Naturally, it drew flak from the BJP. Party’s Telangana floor leader G Kishan Reddy found fault with indiscriminate naming of districts according to KCR’s whims and fancies.
“The creation of new districts should be done in a scientific way and not according to anybody’s whims,” he said.
He also alleged that the TRS government is diverting central funds given to the state. He demanded to release a detailed report about the central funds received by the state government so that public should know the facts of the central funds.
