Court breaks KCR's demolition drive
In a major set back, High Court directed the Telangana state government to stop the demolition of illegal structures constructed by encroaching nalas, storm water drains and water bodies in Greater Hyderabad Municipal Corporation limits.

Chief minister K Chandrasekhar Rao had recently taken up the demolition of all illegal buildings following submergence of many localities abutting the encroached water bodies in the recent heavy rains in the city.  On the instruction of CM, state Municipal Administration and Urban Development minister K T Rama Rao has taken the responsibility of smooth conduct of the demolitions.

Court asked the state government and Corporation to issue notices to the owners and give three weeks time for explanation before razing the buildings down. Nearly, 500 illegal structures were already demolished in the drive launched four days ago. Government identified nearly 28,000 illegal structures in the city.
