Raashi Expanding Her Wings

Raashi Expanding Her Wings
After making her tollywood debut with 'Oohalu Gusagusalade' in 2014, for two long years Raashi limited herself to only Telugu film industry. However, it seems that she has finally decided to expand her wings.

Raashi was recently in news for bagging her debut Tamil film opposite Siddharth. Titled 'Shaitan ka Bachcha', the project was said to be a horror comedy. Even before this project has gone on floors, news has emerged that Raashi has signed her second Tamil film as well. She has been roped in to play the leading lady opposite young Tamil actor Atharva. This film will go on floors by the year end.

The fluent-Telugu speaking Delhi actress is also said to be in discussions to star in a couple of big Telugu projects including Ravi Teja's next film. Despite the success ratio of Raashi is not great, she is managing to grab offers only because of her acting ability and sensual appeal. Although her movies have failed, Raashi never failed to impress movie lovers and critics.

After scoring a decent hit like 'Supreme' this year, Raashi is testing her luck with September 30 release 'Hyper'. With 'Oxygen' in post-production and a flying career ahead in kollywood, we hope she doesn't neglect Telugu cinema and balance both.

Yes, I was offered ‘Vedalam’ Telugu remake, says Santosh Srinivas

Two  years after the debacle of ‘Rabhasa,’ Santosh Srinivas is back with ‘Hyper,’ starring his ‘Kandireega’ hero Ram. He admits that if you deliver a dud, you have to wait for another chance. “That’s the way industry operates.  However, nobody distanced me as I’m in the good books of Ravi Teja, Allu Arjun and Sai Dharam Tej. They are ready to do a film with me. It’s just that I have to approach them with a good script,” he says.

But why Ram again? He could have gone to the aforementioned actors, right? “Besides Ram, two other heroes okayed ‘Hyper’ script. But we wanted someone to give us dates immediately and Ram was ready to do that.”

He insists that like his earlier two films, ‘Hyper’ too is a full-on commercial entertainer peppered with action, comedy and romance in equal proportions. “It’s a sequence of events of how a son (played by Ram) reacts when his doting day (Satyaraj) is embroiled in a problem,” he says, refusing to share more about the plot. “After Ram endorsed the storyline, the script was fleshed out accordingly to suit his body language.”

Srinivas is extremely happy to see Ram evolving as an actor. “I was surprised to see him giving a very disciplined performance in ‘Nenu.. Sailaja…’ He has matured a lot as an actor and that helped ‘Hyper’ big time. He can balance both sensible and commercial cinema, but for me he is always a commercial hero,” he beams.

Even before he took ‘Hyper’ on to sets, there were reports that he would be directing ‘Vedalam’ Telugu remake for Pawan Kalyan.

Released last year, the Ajith-starrer was a smash hit at the TN box-office. Santosh admits that he was indeed offered the project. “Yes, I was offered the remake,” he drawls, hesitating to reveal more. “But I was committed to do ‘Hyper’ for 14 Reels Entertainment. I don’t know the status of ‘Vedalam’ remake as of now.”

Next up, while he wants to take a break for 15 days as he has been working round the clock for the past three months, hardly getting time for a breather, he is keen on directing the Hindi version of ‘Hyper’. “I couldn’t do ‘Kandireega’ Hindi remake back then despite the insistence of Balaji Motion Pictures but I’m ready to remake ‘Hyper’ in Hindi,” he declares, signing off.

Srikakulam to go Singapore way

Srikakulam, one of the most backward districts in the State, is all set to take the lead from Singapore.

The Ministers representing this district, along with the district Collector were advised by the Chief Minister Nara Chandrababu Naidu to follow the Singapore model of development.

The Chief Minister on the second day of the two-day Collectors’ conference on Thursday, asked the officials to draw inspiration from Singapore and develop the district. He wanted them to prepare action plans, identify local resources and execute the works in coordination to develop the district.

  • CM directs district officials, Ministers and Collector to draw inspiration from Singapore
  • Suggests that the district should capitalise on its  197 km coastline
  • Minister Atchannaidu promises to develop the district in the next two years

He said that Srikakulam was eight times the size of Singapore with a population 50% lesser than that of Singapore. The district can take advantage of its 197 km coastline, said the CM and added that the sea coast can help to increase the GDP if the Ministers worked with commitment and vision.

Stating that the sea food industry had a global market, he asked officials to focus on the industry in the district. Minister K Atchannaidu who hails from the district said that they would work hard and develop the district in the next two years.

He said they would prepare an action plan with the available resources and would also identify the sources for establishing industries in the district. He promised to take the initiative for the overall growth of the district.

The Chief Minister reviewed the progress of works in all the districts with the Collectors and instructed them to identify areas of growth and prepare action plans accordingly.

Power Star Pawan Kalyan's attitude, his social awareness and service are always noteworthy. Some of his movies were, hitherto, made with social message concepts. Yet, most of them couldn't score well at the box office owing to lack of commercial ingredients in them.

Mind your language: Tollywood celebs making sexist remarks in public

Talk about putting your foot in your mouth! Tollywood actor Nani recently joined the list of offenders from the film industry, to make sexist and misogynist statements in public.

At the trailer launch of Raashi Khanna’s upcoming film, Hyper, Nani said, “Raashi, you look beautiful and I can’t say more as it will not sound good. I used the word ‘beautiful’ because it is neat and classy, but everyone here knows just how beautiful you are.” While everyone present laughed it off, this is not the first time actors have shot their mouths off.

MLA and senior actor Balakrishna once said at an audio function, “If I simply run behind the actresses, my fans will be disappointed. They like it when I either kiss the girl or make her pregnant.” Speaking of his co-stars, he has said, “I act naughty with the actresses... I pinch them sometimes.”

Etiquette expert Ruqsana believes that this has to do with upbringing and that even if you share a great equation with someone in private, it is not okay to bring that relationship to a public forum.

“In actor Nani’s case, it is not good etiquette to speak how he would in private, while at a public forum. It is very important that we pay attention to where we are and what we’re speaking,” says Ruqsana.

Actor Mohan Babu had lashed out against a director and actor who asked the lead actress of a film for a hug at a promotional event. Said the veteran actor, “This is very cheap. How can a director ask an actress for a hug at a public gathering, also when the event is being shown live? When you are speaking, use your common sense. If the actress was from our times, she would have slapped them.”

A few months back, when Salman Khan spoke about how “he felt like he was raped” after the shoot of a fight sequence for his film Sultan, he faced a lot of backlash.

“People need to focus more on the words they are saying. I find that most men lack compassion and empathy and that is why they just shoot off such comments. If people put themselves in the place of others and think twice before they say insensitive things, we will be saved a lot of anguish,” explains Chetna Mehrotra, image consultant.

While celebs are often in the limelight for their language skills or the lack of it, day to day instances of sexism is not new. “I have heard even children use the word ‘rape’ very casually. People need to be taught not to use such words because they denote a much more serious issue. Educate people about the language they use and how they need to pay attention to words,” says Ruqsana.

Raashi on 'Repeat' Mode?

Raashi on 'Repeat' Mode?
After the career-establishing success of her debut film 'Oohalu Gusagusalade', bubbly actress Raashi Khanna has not yet scored another hit of that magnitude. However, surprising many, she continues to grab big offers.

The latest we hear is that Raashi has been roped in to romance mass maharaja Ravi Teja in his new film to be directed by Bobby. It may be noted that Ravi Teja, who rarely repeats actresses, is repeating Raashi Khanna for this film. Earlier, Raashi romanced him in 'Bengal Tiger' and who can forget her bikini treat in that film?

Ravi Teja is not the first hero to repeat Raashi. Even after pairing with him in a dud like 'Shivam', Ram gave her another chance in the form of 'Hyper'. Macho actor Gopichand also repeated her in his new film 'Oxygen' after he had romanced her in his flop film 'Jil'.

Despite Raashi is super happy with multiple projects in her kitty, she urgently needs a big hit to zoom into the top league. Will her latest film 'Hyper', which will hit screens on September 30, become that launching vehicle?

Maruthi Settles With Genius Hero?

Maruthi Settles With Genius Hero?
Typically, heroes consider result of director's last film in order to sign a new project with them. Director Maruthi knows this fact, so is teaming up with a budding actor like Havish of Genius fame for his next film, after facing an average result with his last directorial Babu Bangaram that starred Venkatesh.

It's really surprising what made Maruthi to choose Havish who is yet to prove. The director clarifies in it saying, except for Nani and Venkatesh, all his heroes were upcoming stars.

"I will decide on hero, only after completing story of my films. Then, I will approach the one who fits well for the film. I followed the same policy for my next film with Havish too. He is right option for the film," affirms Maruthi.

Vamsi Krishna Reddy and Pramod Uppalapati will be producing the film under UV Creations Banner. Script works are in final stages. The makers are in hunt for heroine opposite Havish. The untitled film is billed to be a different love story with loads of humor.

Interestingly, Maruthi is co-producing a film with UV Creations and Vijay Deverakonda of Pelli Choopulu fame is hero of the flick to be directed by a debutante Rahul.

Although Maruthi planned a film with young hero Akhil, things didn't materialize. In fact, he committed to do a film with Havish, before the release of Babu Bangaram.

Kim Kardashian, who was attacked by a notorious prankster, wants French law enforcements to take action against him. The accoster had allegedly tried to kiss the reality star's bottoms.

The assault on Kardashian happened just one week after Sediuk lifted supermodel Gigi Hadid off the ground outside Milan Fashion Week. Hadid, however, was quick to react.

Surgical strikes aimed at foiling Pakistan-sponsored terrorism: Centre

Union Minister for Information and Broadcasting, M. Venkaiah Naidu on Thursday said the surgical strikes carried out by the Indian Army on terror launch pads across the Line of Control (LoC) last night were aimed at foiling attempts of Pakistan and abet terrorism against India.

"This operation was made in order to foil attempts of our neighbour, because our neighbour has been aiding, abetting and funding terrorists for long. This is the response to what they have done in recent days and what they were planning to do in the future also," Naidu said after attending an all meeting organised by the Centre to explain the surgical strike in detail.

"Now, Pakistan will know that we will not tolerate these kinds of incidents in the future," he added.

Naidu said the army carried out the surgical strikes on the basis of intelligence inputs.

The all party meeting took place at the Home Ministry and was headed by Home Minister Rajnath Singh.

External Affairs Sushma Swaraj, Finance Minister Arun Jaitley, Congress President Sonia Gandhi, besides leaders of other parties was also present.

Lt. Gen. Ranbir Singh, Director General of Military Operations (DGMO), earlier today said that the Indian Army conducted surgical strikes on seven terrorist launch pads across the Line of Control (LoC), which was ready to carry out terrorists strikes in Jammu and Kashmir and various other metros in our country around midnight.

Singh said that the operation of the Indian Army was basically focussed to ensure that the terrorists do not succeed in their design of infiltration and carry out destruction endangering the lives of citizens of the nation.

Singh further said that he spoke with the Pakistani DGMO and expressed New Delhi's concern and meanwhile, shared information over the operation conducted by the Indian Army.

Elucidating the involvement of Pakistan in the recent infiltration bids and terrorist strikes the Indian DGMO said that the captured terrorists have confessed that they were trained by the Asian neighbour.

Google rebrands cloud business, adds more AI

Alphabet Inc's Google said on Sept. 29 it renamed its business-to-business cloud computing brand and enhanced some enterprise applications using artificial intelligence, the company's latest gambit to better compete with Amazon.com and Microsoft Corp. in the lucrative cloud business.

Discussing the rebranded Google Cloud, Diane Greene, senior vice president of Google's enterprise business, said the company has made good progress courting customers and improving its technology.

Cloud computing uses remote internet servers to store, manage and process data, and Google offers a range of apps like word processing and email, as well as the ability to host data and offer resources for developers. The new name replaces the Google for Work brand.

"We are closing the gap incredibly fast" with competitors, Greene, a former CEO of VMware who joined Google last year to ramp up its cloud business, told experts and journalists at an event.

Analysts say Google trails Amazon and Microsoft in market share but is gaining under Greene. Although the business is not big enough to break out separately in its quarterly earnings statement, Google reported a 33 percent surge in "other revenue" in its most recent quarter, which analysts said was probably due largely to gains in cloud computing.

Greene has moved quickly to streamline engineering and appointed new leadership to beef up the company's cloud business. This has helped improve sales, Google Chief Executive Officer Sundar Pichai said during the company's latest earnings call.

Earlier this month, Google acquired cloud software company Apigee Corp in a deal valued at about $625 million.

The company on Thursday also announced a partnership with consultant Accenture to develop cloud services for clients in industries such a retail, healthcare and finance.

In addition, the company said it had woven more artificial intelligence into its apps to help employees work more efficiently. Using machine learning to crunch troves of data, Google says its apps will prompt users to, say, open files at certain times of day or propose meetings based on their habits.

Google recently added a US data center in Oregon in order to speed up service and next year will open more in Virginia, Mumbai, Singapore, Sydney, São Paulo, London, Finland and Frankfurt.

Surgical strike: How 100 commandos nailed Pakistan’s lie

New Delhi: The exercise to give a befitting reply to the Uri attack had been in the making for several days since the attack on the Uri army base, and India apparently waited till the external affairs minister, Ms Sushma Swaraj's speech at UNGA to signal its intent that attacks on its territory would be punished.

It was on late Wednesday evening when National Security Advisor Ajit Doval informed Prime Minister Narendra Modi following specific intelligence inputs that Pakistani security agencies were going to shift militants from some of the launch pads operating close to the LoC that the latter finally gave his consent for a “limited strike'' targeting these areas.

Before giving his consent, the PM discussed the issue both with Home Minister Rajnath Singh and Defence Minister Manohar Parrikar. Ever since the first meeting of the Cabinet Committee on Security, headed by PM, first discussed the  option of surgical strikes by Indian armed forces post the Uri attack on September 18 the intelligence agencies had the “advance launch pads'' at Lipa, Kel, Tatapani (Hotspring) and Bhimber on its radar as they operated within a radius of 500 meter to 3 km from the LoC and were thus within striking range of security forces to carry out a swift operation.

Twitter Moments Now Open to Everyone to Tell Their Stories

In an attempt to take on Snapchat's and Instagram's 'Stories', Twitter on Wednesday made a big announcement - it has now opened its Moments feature to everyone. Twitter will allow users create Moments about nearly anything they feel suits their interests. The company introduced Moments last year, and since then the company has been tirelessly attempting to bring more and more features to the tool.

The California-based social media giant announced in a blog post in August that it will roll out the feature soon to all its users, apart from opening it for a wider group of companies. Moments are curated stories that showcase a series of tweets to help keep users up-to-date on the topic of their choice. Starting Thursday, anyone can staple multiple tweets in a single canvas that will follow a particular topic to create their Moments.

In order to help you make your Moments, Twitter has posted a video in a tweet that explains the steps you will do. As soon as you'll start seeing the Moments tab on your profile, head to it, and click on 'Create new Moment'. After that you can choose to add a series of tweets and a cover photo as well. There is an option to include the tweets across Twitter platform you have searched or hit the 'heart' button on.

As we mentioned, Facebook's Instagram and Snap (earlier Snapchat) already have their own Stories sections, giving users a similar experience of curated news from the Internet. The feature has been long-delayed and it would have been remarkable if Twitter had done things better already. It is worth noting that the company is cliffhanging to sustain itself from a possible sell out, as rumours last week surfaced hinting that Google and Salesforce are on the frontier to bid for the company. Interestingly, Walt Disney, Microsoft and a bunch of other companies were also reported to be in the queue to appear in the bidding.

Skype 6.25 for iOS Now Available; Brings Siri Integration and CallKit Support on iOS 10

If you are an iOS 10 user, the Skype v6.25 update will let you use its features more seamlessly on your iPhone or iPad. Skype on Wednesday announced a significant update to its app that brings new calling features and Siri integration. The update is now available and you can head to the App Store to get it.

Users can now utilise the Siri voice-based virtual assistant to make calls and send messages on the Skype app. It is worth mentioning that Apple opened Siri for developers at WWDC this year, and the improvements became available to users and developers with iOS 10. Coming back to the Siri support for Skype, calling someone on Skype will become simpler as Siri will understand the same voice commands you're already using to call someone. To give an example, let's say you want to call 'ABC' on Skype. If you have their Skype contact information fed in your iOS device, simply say "Call ABC on Skype". To confirm if it's the same person, Siri will ask before initiating the call. The SiriKit employed in the Skype makes it easier for users to place VoIP calls and send messages.

Another important feature is the introduction of the CallKit in Skype. This means your Skype contacts will be integrated with the default contact information of the person, so that you can perform Skype actions right away without opening the app separately. With CallKit, incoming Skype calls will now appear just like regular cellular calls on your iOS 10 device. This in turn will ease out the functionality to switch between a Skype and a regular call. User will also be able to invite friends to join Skype directly from their contact list. While the features are available for personal users starting Wednesday, these are said to roll out on its Skype for Business app starting October.

Detailing on the CallKit, it will also let you receive alerts and respond to the Skype calls on CarPlay. Earlier, Skype notifications didn't ping the CarPlay user, a limitation faced by other third party apps as well.

Harnessing the CallKit capabilities, Truecaller earlier introduced the real-time spam protection on iPhones running iOS 10 to detect spam calls more efficiently. Alongside, Truecaller was also said to bring a new 'My Block List' feature, which will allow users to block and manage calls they want to receive on their iPhones.

Tinder's New Boost Feature Helps You Skip the Line, Puts You on Top of the Pack

Tinder, the popular dating app that has seen its fair share of controversy, has introduced a new feature called Boost. With the aim of making it easier to find a match, the Boost feature helps you 'put yourself first' in line, skipping it altogether. The feature is paid in the app and is being tested in Australia for now - however, it's unclear just how much the feature costs. If all goes well, the company plans to push the feature worldwide soon.

Talking about Boost, Tinder on its blog said that it will put you on top of the deck for a short period - 30 minutes - boosting your chances to get a right swipe. The company says that boosting can get you up to 10x more profile views, and in fact, after a boosting session also serves up statistics of how many more views you got.

Tinder says Boost can only be activated while swiping in the normal Tinder mode. If you are a Tinder Plus user, you get one free Boost every week. If you don't have Tinder Plus and want more Boost, you can buy it any time you want. It is quite similar to Tinder's Super Likes feature that also costs you some money, again serving the purpose to be noticed on the app.

If you're desperately single and don't want to loosen your pocket a bit for that sake, Tinder has advised you to be cautious while putting all your time in vain uselessly finding a match. It's quite pragmatic when you are in a metro city with a heap of Tinder matches and want yourself to be on the top of the deck so that you're noticed easily.

Tinder last week partnered Spotify to introduce music preferences in the app to not only let you "show your favourite artists and music preferences, but also to pick the anthem that defines you, listen to other people's anthems and maybe make a little music with someone new."

Read How India Carried out Surgical Strikes
At a time when the entire nation was boiling with the 'retaliation fever' ever since the Uri attack that resulted in the death of 18 army personnel, India on Thursday carried out surgical strikes in the terror sponsoring areas of Pakistan occupied Kashmir (PoK) to give a firm warning to the neighboring nation.

With this attack, India has announced that it no longer depends on only dialogues to resolve the issues with Pakistan on the disputed Line of Control (LoC). Indian DGMO Lt Gen Ranbir Singh said that Pakistan was informed about the strikes before the execution. "India has no intention of continuing the strikes but we are ready for any reaction from Pakistan," he added.

Read how the operation was carried out in a matter of 4 hours.

According to reports, the operation began at around 12.30 AM on Wednesday. Paratroopers from Special Forces were airdropped at the LoC, from where they walked 3kms across the LoC and crossed over to the Pakistani side to conduct the surgical strikes using choppers. As per reports, the strikes happened at 0.5-2 Km radius across LoC.

The mission reportedly ended at 4.30 AM. Seven terror launch pads were destroyed during the strikes, killing 38 terrorists and 2 Pak soldiers. No Indian casualties were reported. Those killed in the Indian Army surgical strikes included terrorists, their sponsors and handlers.

This is the first of its kind strike across the Pakistani border and it had to be performed in the wake of an increasing number of terrorists gathering along the LoC with the objective of infiltrating the border to conduct attacks in India.

Modi Govt. is receiving applause from every corner of the nation for the audacious decision

Google Play Music Service Finally Comes to India

It has been a long time for the users in India waiting for Google to introduce its Play Music service in India. And the wait is finally over. Google has quietly opened its Play Music store in India, with songs and albums now available for purchase. The Play Music was rumoured to launch back in July but it didn't happen at that time. Notably, the subscription service - known as Google Play Music All Access - is not yet available in the country.

The news comes after the Google for India's event on Tuesday where the company launched a bunch of apps and new features suited for the Indian users. However, there is no official announcement by Google India to add to the same on its blog. With the new Play Music service, Google will enter the digital music market in India to compete with the likes of Apple's iTunes and Airtel's Wynk Music.

Google Play Music doesn't let you stream music as of now, with no Google Play All Access subscription plan, no radio, and podcasts services in India. You can only buy songs and albums individually on the app. With no support for streaming, Google may fall behind Apple Music, Saavn, and Gaana that currently occupy the streaming market in India.

Detailing on the pricing, Google Play Music hosts individual songs of the genres like Bollywood, regional, Indian Pop, and International starting Rs. 15 per song, while an entire album costs within the Rs. 100 - Rs. 200 range. You can preview the tracks and pay for them as per your suitability using your debit/ credit card, or with Google Play cards.

The Web version of Play Music is also live with a support for Google Chrome extension for desktops in case users want a player app. Interestingly, the Play Music app on iOS didn't let us successfully sign into the app, suggesting the service might roll out on iOS platform later. Users can also upload music via Google Play Music on the web - users will be required to download the Music Manager app, which then allows you to upload files from your computer, or playlists via iTunes and the Windows Media player. Users will then be able to listen to the uploaded music anywhere once they sign into the Google Play Music service, whether on Android or the Web.

Google Search for iOS Gets Incognito Mode, YouTube Support, and Stability Improvements

Google is certainly on a spree. After celebrating its 18th birthday earlier this week, the Mountain View based firm had much to announce at the Google for India event, including a brand new app called YouTube Go. On Tuesday, the company also updated its Google Search aka Google app for iOS, bringing several new features.

Announcing the changes in a blog post, Google's Unni Narayanan, Director, Product Management, said the three new features being added will make the app "more private, video-friendly and stable." The updated app (v19.0) is now available via the App Store.

Users of the Google Search app for iOS can now search privately with incognito mode. Just like incognito mode in browsers, searches and browsing history will not be saved. Users can turn on incognito mode via settings. Users will also be able to utilise Touch ID fingerprint recognition technology to ensure only they are able to re-entering an existing incognito session. A 3D Touch shortcut has also been provided, allowing users to enter incognito mode simply by hard pressing the app icon.

The next major feature addition is the ability to watch YouTube videos directly within the Google app. This means, users will not be directed to their browser or YouTube app once they click on a video link in their search results.

Finally, as mentioned, the third major addition is stability - Google claims the crash rate of the app has been reduced by 50 percent, which in other words means the app is now "twice as reliable" in Google's words. The company has also improved compatibility and stability of the app for iOS 10 users. Another unmentioned change is that the Google Now cards have been renamed to Feed - mirroring a similar move on the Android app.

Google Chrome for Android to Get New Features for Low Internet Connectivity

Google India on Tuesday announced a bunch of new features arriving on Google Chrome for Android, updating the Data Saver. Google Chrome can now save music, videos, and webpages to view later along with all the rich content. Besides, users in India can now save data using Chrome Data Saver on videos. That said, Google Chrome on Android will automatically optimise websites and pages just to the bare essentials when 2G or slow networks are detected. The features are available on the Chrome Beta channel, but will be rolled out to the stable channel in the coming weeks.

The search giant on the occasion of its 18th birthday has announced a series of new features and products at event held in Delhi. In order to cater to the ever-increasing Internet users in India, Google has primarily focused on areas with low Internet penetration. The new update to the Google Chrome will now support MP4 videos, which will let users save up to 67 percent of their mobile data.

At the launch event, Rahul Roy-Chowdhury, Vice President - Product Management at Google's Chrome division, said,"Our mission on the Chrome team is to move the web platform forward". Elaborating more on Google's vision for India, he explained that the download button on the new Chrome will save your music, videos, and webpages under the Download section, which can be accessed later in the offline mode. The running downloads will automatically pause when Chrome detects an unstable Internet connection, and will resume as soon good Internet connectivity hits in.

You will now miss playing that addictive Dino game on Chrome now, as there will be no offline dinosaur in the case of Internet absence. The new download manager on Google Chrome will automatically save the webpage for later access, sans Internet.

Striking exactly at the core of low Internet connectivity issues, Google has come up with a new service called Google Station. Google Station is set to provide partners (like RailTel for RailWire) the software and guidance on hardware to turn fibre connections into fast, reliable and safe Wi-Fi zones. Users can use a fast Wi-Fi experience with a simple and unified login, while making it much easier for venues to manage their networks.

Google has also launched its new app called YouTube Go to serve users who are eager to play YouTube videos in low Internet connectivity with offline saving capabilities. Besides, a bunch of updates have been announced for Google's recently launched messaging app Allo, Google News, and Google Play.

YouTube Go is Google's Offline-First YouTube App

As a part of its Google for India announcements, Google on Tuesday launched a new YouTube app built from the ground up for India, called YouTube Go. The app will slowly roll out, but people can sign up to be notified when YouTube Go launches. According to the YouTube blog, Youtube Go has been built to be offline-first, and to focus on minimising data costs.

The app has some interesting new features, such as showing you a preview and the size of a video in MB before you start to play, allowing you to save videos, and to share videos with others even without Internet access. The preview shows you thumbnails from different points in the video so you have an idea of what it is even before you've started to play the video, and showing the size before hand provides transparency about data usage, whether you're saving or streaming the video.

Perhaps the most interesting new feature is sharing though - if someone else has the app as well, you can share downloaded YouTube Go videos with people nearby, entirely offline.

According to YouTube, the recommendations are also being fine-tuned, to take into account your specific location, so that you'll see more suggestions based not just on your country, but on what people in your own locality are viewing.

In 2014 YouTube had launched offline mode that allows users to download videos to watch when there was no connectivity, and then in the start of this year, it launched Smart offline which lets users schedule the downloads at night, when operators charge less for data.

According to YouTube, these changes reduce the amount of money people have to spend on data, but it was not enough. Building a new app from the ground up has led to an app that's smarter and faster, the company says. The new app will be rolled out in the next couple of months.

Celebgate: US Hacker Pleads Guilty to Stealing Nude Celebrity Photos

A Chicago hacker who stole nude photos from the accounts of at least 30 celebrities pleaded guilty Tuesday in US federal court.

Under a plea agreement with prosecutors, Edward Majerczyk admitted to one count of "unauthorized access to a protected computer to obtain information."

Prosecutors agreed to ask for a reduced sentence of nine months in prison. The charge carried a maximum sentence of five years.

In 2013 and 2014, Majerczyk hacked into the Apple iCloud and Gmail accounts of celebrities, including actresses Jennifer Lawrence and Brie Larson, and model Kate Upton, and stole photographs of the women in various states of undress.

The photographs were later leaked online, causing a scandal.

Majerczyk's lawyer Thomas Needham told US District Judge Charles Kocoras in Chicago that the 29-year-old hacker made no effort to "sell or disseminate" the photos, according to the Chicago Tribune.

When asked by the judge if the photos were for Majerczyk's own "satisfaction and enjoyment," the man's lawyer responded in the affirmative.

Federal investigators are reportedly still looking for the person who publicly released the photographs after Majerczyk stole them. The federal judge scheduled a January 10 hearing to impose his sentence.

Jennifer Lawrence spoke out to Vanity Fair in 2014 about the online publication of the photos. She said she had intended them for a boyfriend with whom she was in a long-distance relationship, and that she had been distraught over their release.

"It is not a scandal. It is a sex crime," Lawrence told the magazine. "It is a sexual violation. It's disgusting."

According to the plea agreement filed with the court, Majerczyk tricked his victims into thinking that they had received a security alert from a legitimate internet service provider, but a link in the email he sent took them to a fake website, where they were instructed to enter their logins and passwords.

Majerczyk then used that information to hack into the celebrities' accounts and looked through their private information.

Some 300 people were tricked in this way, the court filing said, including at least 30 celebrities

Surgical Strikes Across Line Of Control (LoC) At 7 Terror Launch Pads

India has carried out "surgical strikes" across the Line of Control in Pakistan-Occupied Kashmir to prevent terrorists who were prepping to infiltrate and attack the Kashmir region and metros, the army said today.

The strikes which took place last night were filmed. Sources said seven different terrorist launch pads were targeted upto two kilometres across the Line of Control or LoC and that "scores of terrorists were killed."

Lt General Ranbir Singh, the army's Director General of Military Operations (DGMO), said the strikes  inflicted  "significant casualties" on the terrorists "and their supporters" and that Pakistan was informed by him this morning of the action which has concluded.

Pakistan has said India's announcement of the strike is "a lie" and that it lost two soldiers in unprovoked cross-border firing by India.

Premier Nawaz Sharif said he condemns "the unprovoked and naked aggression of Indian forces" and the Pakistani army warned that if Indian troops cross the border, it will strike back. Later, Pakistan had also summoned Indian High Commissioner Gautam Bambawale. Mr Sharif has called a joint session of the Parliament on October 5.

The strikes are being seen as the first major military action taken by India after terrorists from Pakistan crossed into an army camp in Uri in Kashmir earlier this month. 18 soldiers were killed in that attack, one which Prime Minister Narendra Modi had said would "not go unpunished."

Union Minister Rajavardhan Rathore told NDTV that the operation was "counter-terror and not military action" against Pakistan, but stressed that India has signalled that while it "will strive for peace, it will not bow down to terror."

Details of the strike were announced after PM Modi called an urgent meeting this morning of the cabinet committee on security.

The government has in recent weeks indicated that its campaign against Pakistan will largely be centred around diplomatically isolating Islamabad.  PM Modi said this week that he will not travel in November to Pakistan to attend the regional SAARC summit.

Three other countries of the eight-member SAARC group have joined India's boycott. PM Modi is also substantially reviewing water-sharing and trade pacts with Pakistan.

On Monday, Foreign Minister Sushma Swaraj urged the United Nations General Assembly to hold Pakistan accountable for terror attacks in other countries while categorically stating, "Jammu and Kashmir is an integral part of India and has always been so."

Tension between India and Pakistan escalated in July after the shooting of 22-year-old terrorist Burhan Wani, who had gained a large following among young men in the Kashmir Valley.  India has accused Pakistan of inciting and funding the riots that followed, with more than 90 people killed and 10,000 injured in violence that stretched over a month.

Pakistan eulogized Wani as a martyr and said it supports what is described as "a new freedom movement" in Kashmir, while accusing India of human rights atrocities in quelling the dissent.

Army Denies Pak Media Claims, Says Soldier Inadvertently Crossed LoC

The army has denied reports by a section of Pakistani media that eight Indian soldiers died and one was captured during retaliation to what Pakistan has called "cross-border firing from India".

The Army said it has suffered no casualty during the surgical strikes on terrorist launch pads, where terrorists were placed for infiltration into India, across the  Line of Control.

The soldier that Pakistani newspaper Dawn reported as captured belonged to Rashtriya Rifles and did not take part of the surgical strikes. He had inadvertently crossed the Line of Control from the army post where he was on duty, the Army headquarters has said.

"Such inadvertent crossing by Army and civilians are not unusual on either side. They are returned through existing mechanisms," a statement from the Army headquarters read.

"As regards the report of killing of eight Indian Army personnel reported in sections of Pakistan media, the report is completely false and baseless," it further added.

Sources said the Director General of Military Operation General Ranbir Singh spoke to his Pakistani counterpart after the soldier crossed over inadvertently and demanded that he be sent back.

Dawn had reported that the Pakistani military has claimed that it has killed eight Indian soldiers and captured one, Chandu Babulal Chohan, while retaliating to India's firing at the first line of defence at the Line of Control at Tatta Pani.

The Pakistani army has accused India of "fabrication of truth" after India revealed that it has carried out  surgical strikes on Wednesday night at seven places across the Line of Control.
